gratitudenessness and contentmentnesssss

By Alvin Soo
harlo, it's me again.

now im procastinating to do my bm homework so i have turned to dark side:blogging.
today's sunday, so yeah..i went to church and they usually give these little pamphlets which usually has some anouncements and ppl in duty of stuff and a short article. 2day's 1 was bout starting and facin the new year rite, cos it was da 1st sunday of the year.

so i was readin dat peach coloured pamphlet, then i saw something very challenging to my way of thinking (yes it's dat powderful). what it said was: 'Contentment is not getting what you want, but wanting what you already have'. it really spoke to me.
it seems that we always want things that we don't really need, like dat xbox360, or that cool pair of shoes everyone's wearing now. i want that latest album of james blunt or whatever. we often forget the important things in life that we should be grateful for. as you read this blog on your 1000 over ringgit computer, look around you. your room. or maybe you're in starbucks or something. aren't you glad you're so blessed with so many things you don't really need?

i remember reading me last year's devotion book, bout taking granted so many things god gave us. here's vart da book said:

-if you awoke this morning feeling healthy, you are more blessed than the million people in the world who won't even survive tommorow
-if you've nvr experienced the danger of war, the loneliness of imprisonment, the agony of torture, you're ahead of500 million people around the world
-if you have food in your refridgerator, clothes on yer back (and your legs too btw), a roof over your head (unless you're outside la), and a place to sleep, you're richer than 75% of the world's population
-if you hav some money in the bank, in your wallet, some coins lying around, you're among the top 8% of the wealthy ppl in the world
if you can read this blog, you're blessed more than over 2 BILLION PEOPLEin da world who can't read at all

even all my fingers and toes can't count that high.

so yeah, you are truly blessed and you should be grateful to God and your family for all these wonderful things you have PLUS all the unnecessary things you have that further enhances your life. use these advantages properly, don't condemn the poorer ppl instead use the money u coulda used to buy that oh so cute earrings or dat so darn cool nike shoes, man; to help someone. or jus give them your time...that's actually better.

since we're all in the gratitudeness mood, i wanna thank elaine fer giving me this cool devotion book last year, da person who found or wrote the article for 2day's pamphlet thang...and to those who spent your time reading this person-who-types-too-much-stuff's blog
